Earth Hour in Mrs. Heaton's Class

Students are going to be asked to participate in Earth Hour this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. when people all around the world turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness of the impact of our choices on global warming.

We invite all followers and visitors to our blog to participate and report back what you did for the one hour when all the lights went out.

Question of the Week - Electrical Safety

As part of our unit on light and electricity, students heard about electrical safety from one of our local linemen, who works for South Carolina Electric and Gas.

The question this week is: What did you learn about electrical safety that you could pass on to someone else? You only need to hightlight one thing.

Goodbye Joe

Our school had eleven students from Vanderbilt University join us for their alternative spring break. We were fortunate to be assigned Joe a junior electrical enginering student. He was an instant hit with the students and staff.

Question of the Week - Practice Writing Exam

For the past three Fridays we have taken a practice state writing exam in preperation for the actual test coming up next week (March 10th).

Do you think taking the practice exams will help you on the test? What were you able to identify as items you need to focus on when you take the real test on March 10th? What type of writing do you hope is on the test?

International Moon Phase Question

A student in our class (Kendrick) was wondering if the phases of the moon that we see here in South Carolina is the same phase of the moon seen by everyone around the world. So we pose this question to all our international visitors...What phase of the moon are you looking at now?

Please comment to this post and note the day, country location, and moon phase in your area. We will keep track and compare moon phases around the world to our own.

Thank you in advance for your help!
